Do you have crowding or spacing that can contribute to other dental problems? Dr. Sam Weisz is Certified by Invisalign as a Premiere Provider.

Libertyville Dental Associates is a Certified Invisalign® Provider.

What is Invisalign®?

Invisalign® has changed the face of orthodontics. Instead of wires attached to your teeth, your teeth can now be straightened invisibly.

  • Invisalign® is clear. You can straighten your teeth without anyone knowing.
  • Invisalign® is removable. Unlike braces, you can eat and drink what you want during treatment. You can also brush and floss normally to maintain good oral hygiene.
  • Invisalign® is comfortable. No metal brackets or wires to cause mouth irritation and less time in the dentist’s chair getting adjustments.

The Invisalign® process has been proven effective in clinical research and in orthodontic practices nationwide. However, only a certified dentist like ours can undertake this procedure.

How Does Invisalign® Work?

  • A set of aligners is worn for about two weeks, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss.
  • As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will move – little by little, week by week – until they have straightened to the final position the dentist has prescribed.
  • You will visit us approximately once every six weeks to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned.
  • The total treatment time averages 11 months, with the average number of aligners worn during treatment being between 18 and 30. This, of course, will vary from case to case.

The aligners are made through a combination of our dentists’ expertise and 3-D computer imaging technology provided by the Invisalign® company.

Invisalign Treatment

Invisalign Treatment (Libertyville IL Dentist)

Invisalign is a way to straighten your teeth with clear aligners so you don’t have to go into braces or brackets and wires anymore. And now we’re using that to get patient’s mouths healthy and less crowded. Their bite’s perfect and their smile’s great.

So we’re uniquely situated to have technology that speaks to Invisalign. And so what we can do when you come in is get a scan of your bite and your teeth in three dimensions virtually, and we can send this off and we can actually manipulate this and look at it together, and we can decide what things are off, where your bite might be off, where you’re worried, what your concerns are, and it gives us one more piece of information to prevent problems. In the future, what’s going to happen is you’re going to get a series of these clear aligners, and each one of these little aligners is going to move your teeth a small amount. And so over time, as you change these aligners, every week, everyone has a little built-in movement. And over the period of a year, year and a half, you’re going to find that you’re going to be able to get all your teeth exactly how we want them to be. For your bite, for aesthetics, for everything that we’re doing Invisalign for. You could see once you’re wearing it and it goes on your teeth, it’s virtually invisible. And that’s why they call it Invisalign.

Many people are starting to hear about straightening their teeth with Invisalign as an alternative to braces. Invisalign is improving its technology every day, allowing more adults to consider the options of Invisalign versus conventional braces. As a certified providerInvisalign since 2005, I have grown with the improved technology. In the past few years, we have seen these simple, clear trays go from moving simple orthodontic relapse cases to improving patients with full-fledged moderate to severe crowding of the top and bottom teeth. Invisalign is a predictable alternative if you are compliant with wearing your trays and are willing to maintain good oral hygiene during treatment. I am proud to be the only 2010 Premier Preferred Provider who is a General Dentist in Lake County, spanning Libertyville, Gurnee, Mundelein, Vernon Hills, Grayslake, Lake Forest, and Waukegan.

This means our Libertyville Dental Associates office has been honored by Invisalign with this distinction through our high level of cas experience. With many happy Invisalign patients come some questions. The three most common questions my patients ask about Invisalign are

  1. How long do I have to be in Invisalign treatment?
  2. How much does it cost?
  3. Does it hurt?

Invisalign treatment time and cost vary depending on the severity of the case. Simple cases can take anywhere from 2 months to 8 months. More challenging circumstances can take from 6 to 24 months to complete. I try to teach my patients that the most crucial goal is to get their teeth and bite into proper form so that they are happy with the end result. Cost is a real issue these days, and it should not be overlooked; very easy cases can range from $3800 up to over $5000 in some areas in the city of Chicago for more complex cases. The best thing to do is get an assessment of your bite and smile to see where you might fit in terms of time, difficulty, and cost. At Libertyville Dental Associates we offer free Invisalign consultations to give patients a feel for the office and what Invisalign treatment might look like for eac individual. This brings us to our last question. The beauty of Invisalign and why so many adults and now even teens are looking at Invisalign as the first option over braces at the orthodontist. Invisalign really is a more pain free process. The records are taken with pictures and simple impressions.

There are no brackets that tear at your gums and cause ulcerations. The trays are clear, virtual, and invisible. Patients do experience some slight discomfort when they get a new tray in place because the teeth are moving. Most equate it to a light headache and don’t need any pain medication. I am going to try to document a couple of cases for everyone to understand what the patient process is like from start to finish. I hope this helps with some of your Invisalign questions; try to find someone who can do a free consultation, like Libertyville Denta Associates.
