Invisalign Clear Aligner Therapy at Libertyville Dental Associates
Invisalign is a way to straighten your teeth with clear aligners so you don’t have to go into braces or brackets and wires anymore. And now we’re using that to get patients’ mouths healthy and less crowded. Their bite’s perfect and their smiles great. So what we can do when you come in is get a scan of your bite and your teeth in three dimensions virtually, and we can send this off and we can actually manipulate this and look at it together, and we can decide what things are off, where your bite might be off, where you’re worried, what your concerns are, and it gives us one more piece of information to prevent problems. In the future, what’s going to happen is you’re going to get a series of these clear aligners, and each one of these little aligners is going to move your teeth a small amount. And so over time, as you change these aligners every week, everyone has a little built-in movement. And over the period of a year, year and a half, you’re going to find that you’re going to be able to get all your teeth exactly how we want them to be. For your bite, for aesthetics, for everything that we’re doing Invisalign for.
Sedation Dentistry Options at Libertyville Dental Associates
So with sedation dentistry, it has a lot of different meanings. It could mean anything from meditation and relaxation to using laughing gas or nitrous to using some kind of other medications to ultimately putting you fully out in the, putting you to sleep. And so we kind of offer all of those things so when we first meet for our first visit, we’re going to work together to figure out what you need personally and if it is laughing gas, and we’re going to put something on your nose when you come in and that’s going to kind of take a little bit of the edge off as we’re working on you. That’s sometimes all people need. Other times when you are medicated beforehand, it’s more like a sleeping pill, and so you’re going to have something the night before that’s going to kind of take the edge off. And then you’re going to come in with a driver and we’re going to work with your physician and make sure that everything’s going to be very safe for you when you come in. Thanks for watching. We can’t wait to meet you. For more information, check us out at libertyvilledental.com.
Your Choice for Dental Implants in Libertyville, IL
One of the most life-changing things that we do in dentistry now is with dental implants. And what we can do is basically recreate someone’s whole smile again. One of the things that separates us is that we have everything in-house here. So we have the surgeon that’s here, we have the restorative team that’s here, we have the lab team that comes in, and we have all the technology that we need to diagnose and treat the whole case. So this is something that we have, which is a 3D CD scan, and what you can actually see is where the implants are in the bone. One of the things that we can do here is get a 3D image of your teeth and your jaw to see exactly where the bone’s going to be and exactly where we need to put the implants in order to get a really successful result. Dr. Carl Katz of Libertyville Dental Associates
I am Dr. Carl Katz. I’m a general dentist here in the practice. I’ve been here for 40 years. Well, what sets our practice Libertyville Dental Associates apart is that we’ve always been a family practice and we’ve always maintained that in our practices that we’ll see an entire families. We have gotten to the point where we’re seeing children and grandchildren from families, and we’re almost to the point where we’re seeing great-grandchildren from some of the families. So that is one of the things that we’ve been here for a long time, so we are well established in the community. One of the most satisfying things I find in dentistry is seeing patients appreciate what we can do for them, transforming a smile that they may not like very much to something that they’re very happy with getting children to be able to accept dentistry when they might not have wanted to be here, but we were able to get done what we needed to get done and help them. So those are the most rewarding things that are just helping patients.
Dr. Sabrina Phillip of Libertyville Dental Associates
Libertyville Dental Associates is a very unique place in the sense that you definitely feel comfortable here. Patients feel comfortable. The staff feel comfortable. There isn’t a sense of scariness or tension or unease. Everyone is here and it’s really obvious that we’re all working together for the wellbeing of our patients and each other. One of the things I love about dentistry is that we really want to create an environment of it. Being a dental home. We would like everyone to feel comfortable here, and I know that’s asking for a lot because people are terrified and many people are terrified, and so they should know that there’s no judgment. We’re not here to yell at you or scold you. It’s just to try to get you to a place of health.
Dr. Alan Weisz of Libertyville Dental Associates
I am the senior Dr. Weisz. I started this practice over 43 years ago and we’ve become a family practice and I am still working after all this time. My son Sam, was now the proprietor of the practice and he is doing a great job. He took over and I’m still transitioning. I’m working about a day and a half a week and enjoying it. I really love the mix and being with my patients, which is third generation, many times, many cases, and it’s fun. So one of my favorite moments was when we opened the practice and my wife Elaine, was walking around nine months pregnant and she was holding the punch bowls. This was 42 years ago and the next day my first son was born. So I opened the practice and the next day my son was born. That was really a special moment. The first time I saw the children of the, of mine was big, and then the children of the, the patient’s mind were also very special moments like milestones. That’s what I look back on as being real special moments.
Libertyville Dental Associates Welcomes Dr. Maleeha Amin
I am a Midwest girl. I grew up in Indianapolis, moved over to University of Minnesota for my graduate program, university of Minnesota School of Dentistry. After graduation, moved back to Evanston to work with the city of Evanston and their dental program, their privileged kids. Soon after I switched back to private practice, I joined with Dr. Hoffenberg in Birden Hills, Illinois, and worked with him for several years, learning a lot from his practice. And then I joined Libertyville Dental Associates, and I’m so happy to be here. So when I met everybody at Libertyville Dental Associates, the doctors, the staff, I met people that shared the same desires to help people the way I do the same desires to treat people like family and treat it as a genuine family practice. My biggest practice philosophy is to make my patients comfortable to do dentistry at ease with them. To come up with a plan that works for patients that’s best for their health, what they are looking for, for their outcomes and goals, for their smile, their teeth. My biggest thing is making people smile. I love cosmetic dentistry. I love doing restorative work. I love working with my patients, making sure they’re comfortable, making sure we’ve come up with the best approach for them. I enjoy making my patients laugh. I enjoy getting to know them. I treat them as part of my family, essentially. I look forward to meeting everyone.

It could mean anything from meditation and relaxation to using laughing gas or nitrous to using some kind of other medications to ultimately putting you fully out in the and putting you to sleep. And so we kind of offer all of those things when we do those and whichever route that we get to. I think patients are so appreciative at the end of the day because they haven’t been in so many years and now they’re like, I actually am comfortable at your office. I don’t know how you did it, but it worked and I feel good. And when they come back for their regular hygiene visits and they don’t need one of the medications that they used to need when they came here and we’re celebrating and they’re just so happy, and you could see the warmth in their heart, that’s what it’s all about.
So when we first meet for our first visit, we’re going to work together to figure out what you need personally and if it is laughing gas, and we’re going to put something on your nose when you come in and that’s going to kind of take a little bit of the edge off as we’re working on you. Dental Implants
One of the most life-changing things that we do in dentistry now is with dental implants. And what we can do is basically recreate someone’s whole smile again, and that’s with something called an all-on-four teeth in a day. You’ve probably heard a lot of those different expressions. So we do a lot of those cases here and what you’ll notice is that you’re going to essentially come in with either missing teeth or all your teeth missing or a lot of broken teeth, and you’re going to end up being able to get dental implants where those teeth were missing. And what we could do is recreate your whole smile by fixing them to the implants so they literally get screwed in and you get all your new teeth screwed into the implants and you’ll smile and no one will ever know. One of the things that separates us is that we have everything in-house here.
So we have the surgeon that’s here, we have the restorative team that’s here, we have the lab team that comes in, and we have all the technology that we need to diagnose and treat the whole case. Our Approach to TMJ Treatment
New patients come in and they’re like, yeah, I feel like I’m clenching, grinding. Anything like that is what most people call TMJ, which is the joint that’s right here.
What I do is I am checking for certain imbalances. Now we checked with the wax and now I want to verify, go ahead and bite down. For me, what we’re looking at are all the points and all the context that she’s making, and what we want to do is get off of these big slides and collides that are happening and get you back on the tops of your teeth and if we can achieve that, then as you get into your bite, it’s going to be one bite instead of the multiple bites that you’re having that are activating all the muscles. The best experience or the best thing for me is when we’re working on patients with TMJ Pain and other kinds of head and neck pain is that they are coming back in without clicking and popping sometimes without the headaches they used to have. Without the neck aches, without all the muscle pain.
So I came here a couple months ago and I was having a lot of pain in my jaw. I would get a lot of popping. It’s been months now and I don’t experience the popping, the pain was gone.
As we adjust and get their muscles decompressed and get the bite functioning how it’s supposed to, that ringing goes away and they’re like, I’ve been to every audiologist, every ENT and no one can figure it out. And so that’s been the most rewarding thing for me is really focusing on these dental pains.
TMJ Treatment at Libertyville Dental Associates
What we’re trying to do is get people out of pain.
So I came here a couple months ago and I was having a lot of pain in my jaw. I would get a lot of popping. It’s been months now and I don’t experience the popping, the pain was gone.
We have tons of patients and there’s so many people walking around with a lot of pain and it’s pain anywhere from the top of their head down through their neck. And we’re starting to realize that a lot of that is associated with the jaw and the joint and the way everything works and functions. And here we hold so much of our stress right through all these muscles. So new patients come in and they’re like, yeah, I feel like I’m clenching, grinding. Anything like that is what most people call TMJ, which is the joint that’s right here. The best experience or the best thing for me is when we’re working on patients with TMJ Pain and other kinds of head and neck pain is that they are coming back in without clicking and popping sometimes without the headaches they used to have. Without the neck aches, without all the muscle pain.
When I came with TMJ, a lot of ringing in my ear. My jaw was out of place and I had a lot of discomfort. I had a full mouth adjustment. It was like a miracle and it’s been amazing.

Pediatric Dentistry at Libertyville Dental Associates
I’ve kind of become famous in the dental world for a book that I wrote for children called Sugar Bugs.
I love to come to Libertyville Dental Associates, I love when they get all my sugar bugs off.
So that kind of gives me a headstart with kids that come in the practice because we get them the book either ahead of time or at their first visit, and then I end up becoming kind of a celebrity. And so they’re like, oh, Dr. Sam, of course, he’s the best. And with all the other dentists that we have here that are all trained to be patient and kind and nurturing, that we all come at it a little different angle, but at the end, it’s really about creating a level of comfort for a child from the start.
Libertyville is the most fun.

National Brush Day (Libertyville IL Dentist)
Okay. Now that the kids have done all their trick or treating for the year, it’s time to enjoy the candy hall. But be warned, all of that candy can of course do some damage to young teeth to help. Today is National Brush Day and dentist Sam Weisz with Libertyville Dental Associates is here to tell us some more, including just some of the basics. And that is start us out with when should parents start brushing a baby’s teeth, for example.
Sure. The earlier the better. I recommend a wet washcloth or baby buddy has a great tooth tissue line that you can start cleaning the gums. That’s setting them up with a habit. So when they get their first tooth at about six months, then you’re already starting to brush that with a fluoride toothpaste.
Okay. So as a parent, I always feel guilty when we miss a brushing. Last night, for example, it was because our 4-year-old was just so exhausted. He basically passed out in our arms. Are we doing damage by missing one or two or is how is the damage done? I know it’s done by sugar, but does it take hours only?
Yeah. Well, so sugar is a key. The quicker you get it off the teeth, the better. That’s why we want to get them in the habits early on with brushing. So starting with the baby buddy line moving up, I really like their 360 toothbrush because it gets them in that early habit.
And habits are what’s key to dental health.
It is.
Over and over and over again. How many times a day should a child brush their teeth?
I want them brushing morning and night at the very least. And that’s to get the sugar off the teeth like you said.
Okay. Let’s talk about your book. I love it because it’s a fun way to speak to kids about the importance of brushing the name of it. Sugar bugs.
Yeah. So sugar Bugs is a story of Theodore. He basically loves sugar. He eats for lunch, he eats gummies. He eats lollipops for night. And as the sugar bugs start to grow in his mouth, he realizes something wrong. So he goes to the dentist, sits in the comfy chair, gets to experience everything fun about the dentist. And what I like about it and what it encourages is that people and kids can now be self-motivated to take care of their teeth. So they’ll start to go in there without you even having to nag anymore. And you can get it on Amazon. I’d love for you to ask your librarians about it.
It’s outstanding. Thank you so much for coming in this morning. Appreciate it. Thank you. Nice to see you, doctor. For brushing tips and to learn more about National Brush today, we’re posting the information on our website. Just drop by abc7chicago.com.
Libertyville Dentist Testimonial and Office Tour
I feel like I’m being very well taken care of, and I’m not just a number. I am really a patient here, somebody that I know that they care about.
I’ve been coming for 27 years. He’s outlasted all four of my marriages, so that’s the best relationship I’ve ever had. So I keep coming back for more. Plus they’re very good at what they do.
That’s me totally, totally afraid. I mean, I literally clawed the arm rails in my old dentist’s office. I’d be just, and I’d be so scared of panic attack, faint the Ho Meal, but I have it here. They’ve always made me feel comfortable.
Welcome to our dental home.
Wow. I think you’ve lost teeth since I last saw you.
Cool.
They use the latest technology, so having your whole mouth on computer screen so you can see the various teeth and they can keep track of the progression of your oral health.
I just like that one. I can check out my X-rays and actually get a visual of what’s really going on instantly. And then two, I can also watch TV surf channels while I’m here, which I think is cool. It helps my experience more enjoyable.
We’re getting to the point now. We’re starting to see the children of the children that we saw when we started practicing, and that’s a very rewarding feeling.
To get all this kind of good stuff. And stickers for no cavities. I’m a proud guy right now. Made your day. You’ve made my day.
Well, it starts with a vision that we had when we started the practice 31 years ago, and that was to become part of the community, to develop longstanding relationships with our patients and to treat people the way we would want to be treated. As simple as that.
We have a lot of smiling patients that have been coming here for
Years. Our friends and family, how we would treat them and making the people in the community feel like they’re part of the family, our dental family.
And we care about them personally, not just their mouths. We care about the whole person,
Every effort to make them feel like they’re part of our family, and that’s what we work on every day.
When you find something that works, you stick with it.
