At Libertyville Dental Associates, we understand how difficult dental care can be for people with dental anxiety and fear. That’s why we offer sedation dentistry. Through sedation dental care, you can have calm, relaxing dental visits and treatments to help keep your smile in optimal health over the long haul.
Here, your Libertyville, Illinois dentist answers your questions about dental sedation to help you decide if it’s right for you:
Sedation dentistry uses medication to help those with dental anxiety have more relaxing, tranquil dental visits. We’ll help you determine the best sedation option conducive to your oral and general health needs.
Dental sedation comes in various forms, including:
Almost anyone who experiences dental anxiety, stress, or fear can benefit from sedation dentistry. Dental sedation can also be helpful if you have sensitive teeth, a strong gag reflex, are fearful of needles, or must undergo a lengthy or complex treatment.
Dental sedation is both safe and effective when administered by an experienced sedation dentist. Your Libertyville, IL dentist will review your medical history to ensure sedation is a safe option for you. We’ll also use the appropriate dosage for your treatment to enhance your safety and minimize any risks.
Sedation dentistry can be used for any dental procedure you choose, from cavity treatments to oral surgery. Our goal is to help you have a positive, relaxing dental experience with every dental visit.
That depends on the type and dosage of the sedative used. Nitrous oxide usually wears off within 10 minutes of stopping the flow of the gas. The effect of oral and IV sedation generally lasts longer, which is why it’s important to have a designated driver take you home after your treatment.
We’ve got you covered at Libertyville Dental Associates, located in Libertyville, IL. Contact us at (847) 349-4306 for all your sedation dental care needs.
