Dr. Karateew Dwayne

Dr Karateew graduated from Columbia University School of Dental and Oral Surgery (now SDM).  After completion of his dual specialty training, both Periodontics and Fixed Prosthodontics at the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Karateew practiced for 20 years in his hometown of Vancouver, Canada. Currently, he is a Dean at Marquette University School of Dentistry, and Clinical Professor in the Department of Surgical Services.  Prior to this current position, he served as the Program Director of the Advanced Education in Periodontology (PG Residency) at UIC College of Dentistry.  He has earned the status of a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and Implant Surgery as well as being both a Fellow and one of only forty international Diplomates of the Academy of Osseointegration (AO). 

Dr. Karateew is considered an international expert and opinion leader on implant dentistry, having participated in, and co-chaired, two international summits on best practice guidelines and polices for dental implants. As a sought-after lecturer, he has made multiple clinically relevant presentations, focused on implant-related topics, in over 20 countries.  Dr Karateew has written a reference book on Implant Dentistry.

He and his wife, Dr. Mitra Sadrameli (Oral and Maxillofacial Radiologist), relocated to Chicago and have now lived here for ten years.  From their urban apartment in the city center, Dwayne and Mitra are enjoying exploring Chicago with their two dogs (Shiba Inu’s: Kibo and Kenta) and absorbing its history and architecture.  Dr. Karateew enjoys: Fly Fishing, Downhill Skiing, Golfing, and Gourmet Cooking.
